DIY burglar alarm systems are available through a number of DIY or hardware stores. This type of system should meet the BS6707. These can be a low cost alarm alternative, however they can be unreliable, especially as they are usually poorly or never maintained. You should check with your insurance company to find out if they accept this type of burglar alarm as sufficient.
